5 Words That Can Change Your Life for the Better

October 12, 2012 By Angela

When pondering making changes in ourselves, many things may come to mind. Some of us seek more earning power or a more extensive collection of material items, while others may wish to improve upon their self-aesthetics. Most, though, would like to build on their character, thus becoming stronger and more admirable. The following is a list of the most coveted characteristics you can aim for:

1. Honesty. Integrity can take you further in life because it allows people to trust you, and without trust, there are no relationships. Being truthful and forthcoming demonstrates a humanness and vulnerability but at the same time a larger than life strength. Be honest with others as well as with yourself and be more capable of creative positive change and achieving what you want

2. Courage. You need to be courageous to develop yourself personally, otherwise the fear of it all will keep you stagnant. Courage is what gives us the ability to face and overcome the things that hold us back and stand in the way. Be courageous in how you face life, and you will be able to get more of what you want.

3. Humor. The ability to laugh at oneself and make others laugh is one of the single most valuable traits a person can have and one that will serve you well in life. When things aren't going well and you feel overwhelmed, or if someone around you is facing that, having a sense of humor will carry a person right through the tough times and enable them to keep trying. Have humor within your personality and there is nothing you cannot accomplish. Having a sense of humor can also help you to relieve the stress in your life.

4. Kindness. No matter how much you have to climb and claw your way to the top, being kind will give you staying power! When we offer kindness to others we connect with them, and it is only through these connections that personal development can succeed. Otherwise, even with the greatest successes in life, you risk solitude and being ostracized, and there is little enjoyment to be had from that. Kindness from others is also a means of finding success with your goals, as the generosity of people who know how to get where you want to be will get you there much faster. Kindness is monetary in a sense; it grows in value and has a measurable worth. Have kindness as a characteristic and success becomes instantly more attainable.

5. Confidence. Having self-confidence will power you to accomplishment in the face of any adversity. Without belief in yourself, your dreams of a better life and becoming a better person have no ability to materialize. Confidence is also a contagious thing: you can empower others to improve themselves as well! With a strong sense of knowing who you are and that you can do anything, your possibilities are endless.
