A French study reinforces the findings of U.S. research completed earlier this year that exposure to common solvents during pregnancy increase the risk of birth defects. French researchers studied 3421 pregnant woman who received occupational exposure to solvents common in cleaning products, paints, and cosmetics. According to the study, 45 percent of women who had children with a significant birth defect also had regular exposure to solvents in their workplace. 28% of Women who had children without a birth defect had regular contact with solvents.
