Easy Ways to Get Exercising Every Day

July 20, 2012 By Crispin

Nowadays so many of us live such busy lives that we feel that we just don’t have the time for regular exercise. No matter what sort of lifestyle you have, healthy living requires that in addition to eating a healthy diet, you should get some form of regular exercise. If you start to think creatively you will find that there are all kinds of easy ways to get some exercise without significantly altering your routine. Below are some ideas to help you exercise the easy way every day.

Upstairs Downstairs

No, this doesn’t involve sitting watching repeats of an old television series, it means using stairs as often as you can. When you are at work or in a department store, instead of taking the lift, walk the three or four flights to where you want to be. If you’re not used to going up and downstairs either at work or when you are out it may seem strange at first. Your legs will ache but they will soon get used to the extra work you are making them do and you will feel better for it.

Spring Clean any Time of the Year

Set yourself a target to thoroughly clean at least one room a week, moving furniture and dealing with anything that needs fixing. You’ll be surprised at the amount of exercise old fashioned housework involves.

Glam up Your Garden

Most people who believe in healthy living spend as much time as they can outdoors. If you don’t have a garden then put your name down for an allotment, or offer to help prune the garden of a friend or elderly neighbour.

Getting a piece of land to look the way you want it, or even to produce vegetables that feed your family is great exercise. If you want to see something for all this exercise, there’s nothing quite like working in the garden.

Leave the Car at Home

If you only have a short journey to the local shops and you just want a few things why not leave the car at home. Walking is one of the best and most natural forms of exercise and you will be surprised how much better you feel over time. If work is only a mile or so away from home then why not walk to and from work, you will soon begin to feel the benefits.

Wash the Car

Washing the car has a similar effect to working in the garden as you are exercising the same muscles while you are doing it. Not only will you feel sprightlier once you get used to washing the car yourself, it will look a lot nicer too.

The Ads are Lousy Anyway

Don’t remain in your chair when the advertisements interrupt your favorite television program. Try a few press-ups on the carpet or do some arm stretches up and down and then leaning from one side to the other. Many of the ads aren’t worth watching so why not use those breaks to get some exercise?
