Extra MMR vaccine helped prevent mumps in outbreak

A new report from the Center for Disease Control indicated that a third vaccine booster shot helped to prevent a more wide-spread mumps outbreak in Orange County, New York in late

2009. The study covered a mumps outbreak in a Orthodox Jewish community, which researchers say began at a religious camp in the Catskill Mountains. The outbreak affected nearly 400 people and was confined to three schools in the area. For more information click to read:
