Sudden Exercise Can Be Harmful for Inactive Individuals

Sudden Exercise Can Be Harmful for Inactive Individuals

By Roger Navidad Pahuriray

It is a well known fact that you need exercise in order to stay healthy and fit. Staying healthy and in shape lowers your risk of developing diseases and medical conditions. Experts suggest that exercising for at least 30 minutes a day can be beneficial to your health. In order for you to achieve the best results in terms of fitness, health buffs recommend including cardio exercises and weight training in a workout routine. A fitness regimen that combines these two types of exercises will help you burn fat and build muscle. However, there are times when exercises can be dangerous for your health.

Fatigue and Injury

If you have been sedentary for a long time, a sudden burst of exercise can hurt you. Your joints and muscles are not used to exerting so much effort. If you suddenly put them through a rigorous workout routine, it could result in fatigue and injury. You could also expect to be in a world of pain a few days after an intense workout. These things combined may discourage you from pursuing an active lifestyle and send you back to being sedentary.

Heart Damage

Pain, fatigue and injury are not the worst things that can happen though when you suddenly become active after being sedentary for a long, long time. Research has indicated that a sudden burst of activity after being sedentary for a long period of time increases your chances of having cardiac arrest. In another study, it was found that people who have been extremely inactive for a long time and who started exercising all of a sudden are 30 percent more likely to have a heart attack, while those who are just plain sedentary only have 21 percent risk. Just like any other muscle in your body, the heart is not ready for that much exertion. You will feel pain in your quads and biceps when you work out after being inactive for a long time. The same goes for your heart, only the consequences can be very dangerous or even fatal.

If you want to pick up an exercise after a long inactive spell, experts suggest consulting your doctor first especially if you have a pre-existing condition or if you are over 40 years old.

Pace Yourself

The increased risk of having a heart attack or cardiac arrest when you exercise after being inactive for long time should not deter you from trying to burn fat and get fit. The important thing is to pace yourself. The rush to perform intense workout routines is not necessary. Gradually increase the length and intensity of your training sessions. From brisk walking on the treadmill, you can progress to jogging or running. Eventually you will be able to put in some weight training by lifting light weights or using resistance machines.

Monitoring your heart rate can also help you pace your exercise progression. Keep your heart rate to about 65 percent of the maximum. If you speed past it, slow down. It is also important to listen to your body. If you feel pain or discomfort, slow down and take a breather.

The Art Of Shedding Body Fat For the Busy Person

October 16, 2012 By Angela

Believe me life is only going to get busier and busier as time goes on. It seems that we are all getting into the habit of trying to cram in as much as we possibly can into the same 24 hours we all get. But the problem is that the busier we get the more we neglect our health. We start to eat all the unhealthy foods simply because it is quick and easy. But of course this will eventually lead a person to gain a lot of weight.

Those that feel that they should try to lose weight often give up because they think that the work associated with losing weight is just too much and will take up a lot of their time. But believe me unless you are planning on becoming a body builder you don’t need a personal trainer, or spend hours in the gym, or eat expensive foods.

All you need to do is prepare yourself mentally and consistently apply a few core principles.

Make sure that you completely avoid all those diet pills and fad weight loss diets because they are just going to lead to the path of frustration.

Here are my favourite tips to help you lose a lot of weight in no time at all:

First Tip:

You need to cut out all the wheat products from your life. That means those loaves of bread that you are used to eating day and night need to be tossed into the bin. While bread tastes great and fills you up relatively quickly you need to know that it will cause you to gain an incredible amount of weight in no time.

If you really want to lose weight then you need to cut the bread out. The moment you do is the moment you will discover how quickly you begin to lose weight. This is exactly how to get the results you are after.

2nd Tip:

Whenever most people sit down for a meal they end up mindlessly eating whatever is in front of them until they get to the point where they are stuffed. Not only do they not appreciate what they have just eaten, but more often than not they’ve eaten too much. This of course over time results in the person gaining a lot of weight fast.

The only way to overcome this problem of overeating is to start eating mindfully. Really pay attention to what you are eating and stop the moment you don’t feel hungry anymore. The less you eat the more weight you will end up losing.

The added benefit of eating less is that it is scientifically proven to increase the lifespan of a person’s life.

3rd Tip:

The biggest problem that most of us have, is the fact that we are drinking way too much of the daily calories we ingest. Most if not all of the liquid calories we intake are bad for our waistlines. All those energy drinks, sodas (even if they are diet), etc are slowly but surely adding unwanted fat to your body.

The only way I know how to really get weight loss results is to stop drinking all these calorie intense drinks. Stick to water whenever you are feeling thirsty.

Believe me just a couple of these coffee drinks a day will results in a person packing on well over twenty-five pounds of ugly fat to their waistline every single year. Keep adding that year after year and you know where I’m headed. It’s not a pretty picture.

If you are busy but just take a few minutes a day to change your lifestyle to incorporate the above tips then be sure to note that you will lose weight and a lot of it.

Never give in and just keep taking action consistently and eventually you will be in such incredible shape that people will walk up to you and ask you for advice!
