September 14, 2011 By afountain

We now live in a world where everyone is in a hurry. Man has invented all sorts of gadgets and ways to hasten life. Even our food has become “to-go”. The advantage is that food now takes only a few seconds to prepare. If you want to eat you can simply get a cup of instant noodles, fill it with hot water and after 30 seconds you can eat it. However eating fast food also has its downside. Its nutritional content is extremely limited. This is why although it may be extremely convenient it still can’t take the place of eating vegetables. Here are some benefits you can get in eating greens.

  • Fiber content. Greens are high in fiber which is essential for maintaining a healthy and clean digestive system. Just like your body, your digestive system needs to be cleaned regularly. Fiber acts as the broom that cleans your system regularly and keeps it healthy. Regular fiber intake helps you avoid digestive problems like constipation, bowel irregularity and colon cancer.
  • Nutritional content. Vegetables contain a lot of vitamins and minerals that can give you many health benefits. It can keep you healthy and enhance your immune system.
  • Low in calorie. Greens are low in calorie and have high water content. If you want to lose weight then vegetables are a great addition to your diet. Because they are high in fiber they make you feel full more easily and they don’t add a lot of unnecessary calories. Thus, they can help you maintain that sexy body.
  • Easy to prepare. Greens are easy to prepare. If you want to add fiber to your diet then mix up a salad. Just chop up carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers. Throw in some lettuce, olive oil add a dash of pepper and you are good to go.

Most people think that vegetables are a bore to eat. But it really boils down to how they are cooked. You don’t have to stick to those boring, old, tasteless recipes. You can make up your own. The internet alone contains tons of delicious, easy to prepare and healthy vegetable recipes that you are your family are guaranteed to love. The more creative you get the more fun you will have in eating those leafy greens.
